… the expression of notions and emotions through the ticking face of time.

MARTAAT shaped when two old mates decided to break the borders, far from their home. In April 2022, after years of conflict with various circumstances, two Iranian guitarists, Ahmad Tokallou and Mohammad Aghaei, resumed their half-full journey in the rock and metal music scene, this time in Tampere, Finland.

Ahmad and Mohammad have been passionate contributors to the rock and metal music scene of Iran for over 15 years. Ahmad showcases his talent as a music composer and guitarist in the progressive death metal band AZOOMA. At the same time, Mohammad brings his creative flair to two Indie/Punk bands, Pinned Crooks and The PuzZzle, as a composer, guitarist, and lyricist. They have not only released an array of songs and albums, some of which have reached audiences worldwide, but they’ve also electrified crowds with live performances both in Iran and beyond.

Hailing from the land of thousand years, packed with 22 years of friendship, they embarked on a journey to shape a new musical spirit in the land of thousand lakes, where they intended to present a new experimental progressive sound. “Non-Technical Teleportation of a Vase” is the debut album of MARTAAT, which has a unique and evocative sound that draws from Iranian folk and classical music and also incorporates elements of the Western/Finnish folk, rock, and metal genres. The music and lyrics are reflections of their journey, both personal and artistic, and proof of the power of music to bridge cultures. MARTAAT is the expression of notions and emotions through the ticking face of time.
